My work as an actor has been gratifying because I’ve gotten to explore so many facets of the human experience. I gravitate towards off-beat, complex characters, participating in the development of new work, and scripts that make you think and move things around in you.
I love the pithy, taut form of poetry, and songwriting is a natural extension of that. My live shows are part music, part stand-up comedy — simple songs and the funny stories that tie them together. Patty Griffin and Bruce Springsteen are two of my songwriting heroes.
I’m an actor’s director because I know the actor’s process and because I truly love actors. I’m a designer’s director because I know I’m not a designer. I collaborate, seek guidance, and allow the synergy of different perspectives to inform and impact the whole.
